Practical Work 1: Stencyl Pong Game
Work Duration: 1 week
Team Size: 1 person
Game Type: 2 player game
In this assignment, my task was to implement User Interface elements (main menu, controls menu, winner screen), as well as a win condition and 2 game mechanics. The 2 game mechanics i've decided to add are; 1. The players can press a button to boost the speed of their paddles; 2. The ball will increase in velocity for each collision with the paddle.
Noteable Implementations

Boost Paddle Speed

This code block is located in an Actor Behaviour attached to both paddles. Before it checks for user input, it checks if the paddle is within the height range of the screen so that it cannot leave the screen.
Within the UpControl and downControl user input, it checks if the player is pressing the boostControl input in order to decide if the paddle should have it speed boosted or not.
If boostControl is pressed, it adds the boostSpeed to the totalSpeed with the paddle's defaultSpeed, otherwise, the paddle will only have its totalSpeed set to its defaultSpeed. The Paddle has its y-coordinate updated each frame based on its current y-position +/- its totalSpeed.

Ball Velocity Increase Code Modification

This implementation just required a simple modification to 2 existing Actor Behaviours from the given project that was attached to the ball.
I set a global variable named Velocity and have it set to 30 each time the ball is spawned.
Whenever the ball collides with the paddle, the Velocity value is increased by 5 until it scores and a new ball is spawned.
